Here's another great Dolittler post about simple, effective home remedies for some basic pet discomforts (to be used in conjunction with a proper vet visit, of course).

I could not agree more with Dolittler's recommendation of the Furminator. I use it on my two cats, and it is unbelievable how much fur it gets out in a single 2-minute brushing session! It's works just like in the demo videos - only I've got short-haired cats! It's a bit expensive for a pet brush, but it is absolutely worth it, since it's the last pet brush you'll ever have to buy. (We've gone through a long string of ineffective cat brushes over the last six years.)
