Online Groups for Vegan Living
Quick question, are any of you familiar with any online groups for vegan living, or something similar? A couple of you may know how I feel about most online groups, so I am leery to trek into one, but I would like to have a place to read and familiarize myself with the issues that other people are dealing with.

Maybe in addition to our environmental reads, we can share our thoughts on reading Skinny Bitch here, too!
I'm not a member of any online vegan groups. I joined some environmental ones at one point. The urban permaculture list on Yahoo is great. Others seem very negative. This is an issue people tend to get negative about, and I am trying to focus on the positive, and what IS possible right now.
I just watched an interview with the authors of Skinny Bitch (I only watched the 2nd one down on the list). I was not super impressed as the angle they seemed to be pushing was "meat and cheese are not healthy for you" point blank, and focusing on replacements for cheese and meats (fake cheese or whatever that stuff is and tofus, etc) I wonder though, if they had to lighten their approach for national news as to not go into more detail. Like, I think meat and dairy consumption in moderation are fine - but NOT with most ways these animals are raised and turned into food. The unhealthy issue becomes a much larger one. However, the Google pages of the book made it look appealing to me. I like their harsh approach in writing, which leads me to assume even more so, that their TV personality was just to not scare people 'in person' I have a feeling I will wind up ordering this book, and would love to discuss it. Greg said he saw it at the bookstore just yesterday on the best sellers shelf :)
I know veganism has a different definition to everyone, but to me it should be a lifestyle, not a diet only. Perhaps I need to research with a different method, like the urban permaculture...other names, terms, ideas, etc.
Michelle, is this the Urban Permaculture Group you are familiar with?
Andrea, that's the group!
